Books Bookstore

* Geez... I forgot my written draft for my entry today. I scribbled again last night. :D Oh well, I guess back to composing. *

Since I have already finished Nicholas Sparks' The Choice, I craved all day long yesterday of purchasing another one (set) of his books, and I did manage going to National Bookstore at Gaisano Mall late in the afternoon.

I spent hours holding three of Sparks books, looking for undamaged copies. I really got disappointed with the "True Believer" book that I've found. It was the last copy, cover quite torn and scratched, and the pages have dried traces of dirt... After the long looking-for-another copy, I finally approached a sales lady (since she wasn't busy anymore) and asked if I could get a discount for the book since it's damaged... She told me that I'll have a 10% discount for it. Not satisfied with the price (since it still costs like a very brand new copy), I decided not to purchase it since maybe I'll have a better copy next time.

Two other Sparks books that I've been bringing with me around the store is "Dear John", and a very lucky find of "The Lucky One" (this copy is a special edition I think since it's bigger than his usual novels, still in it's cellophane with no damage of course, and it's the last copy too). After a while, I've met one of my closest friend at a counter, Kate (kazuya), and she introduced me to her classmate. We were chatting a lot about some books and I did enjoy their company even for a while... So that even extended my stay at the shop. After 30mins. or so, they decided to leave... And that left me still undecided what books to buy and more confused.

The time when we were chatting, we came to the self-help books section. There were a lot of interesting books that I just like to grab and go home. :D Though brand new books are a little costly, so I just picked the books that I find interesting.

Hours of holding the Sparks' books, I decided not to buy those. Hehehe... Instead I bought two psychology books and one sociology book (under self-help). Though I did make sure that I hid "The Lucky One" copy. hehehe. If I come back the next time and it is still there, I sure will be buying it. *winks*

I bought "The Road Less Traveled" by M. Scott Peck, MD and another one of his book (I forgot the title :D) and "Social Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman.
I started reading The Road Less Traveled... It is very interesting and you'll find it quite true. But I just don't get the idea whenever he counsels his patients though... There are some psychology standards that seem to be "unfollowed". I'm not sure about this matter though since this book was published in the 80's and Dr. Peck is a psychiatrist, not a psychologist.

And oh... The part where I paid for the book, it took me more of my time before I reached the paying part. There were just a lot of people buying supplies... but I patiently waited in line :D
I also applied for their card (whenever you make a purchase, you'll get points for it which in time, you'll be able to buy their goods using the points)... Again this took time :D and again, I was able to chat with a stranger (mostly this happens :D), a Mom to be specific, buying a "Twilight" book for her daughter.

So yesterday, I was able to buy new books, met an old friend and gained one, talk to a kind Mom... This left me with a smile while leaving the bookstore yesterday.

I was like that before too... I have a bunch of novels that I've purchased before that I haven't read or finished (glad almost all of it are from book sales w/c costs around 20-80 pesos). But I was able to go around with that problem since I'm now able to pick the books that suit my taste and vocabulary level. Also, I am now more aware what kind of books I prefer to read.

I find reading difficult too... Specially those with words that are unfamiliar. This is somewhat one of my plans too (since nagstop ako ng school, na dapat magbasa ako para hindi naman matuyo utak ko. :D) I just have to pick what the right material that interests me most and yun nga, yung kaya ng level ko.
Pero pagdating sa mga books sa school na kailangan basahin tapos mahirap intindihin, napipilitan talaga akong basahin... or pag tinatamad, 'di nagbabasa. hehe.

That's really nice, meeting people and having fun buying books! Unfortunately I usually avoid talking to random people when I go out. I hope you enjoy the books!

If it's okay, just want to know... how come you avoid talking to random people?
